Although it is 5th rare, it's density (weight) is only seconded to Iridium.
Although Iridium is much more (about 11 times) than Platinum, Platinum is
the most expensive metal nowadays, as Iridium does not have much uses
compared to Platinum.

An easy way to get precious metals is by having a stick of copper, impure copper, a battery and a flask of water. If you tape the pure copper to the Cathode (-), and stick the impure one to the Anode (+), the impure copper will melt away, leaving the copper stick bigger, and with a pile of impurities at the bottom of the flask. The impurities often have small amounts of gold or silver in it, so that's another additional bonus for the copper. This process is called electrolysis.
( For those of you who don't know, Copper is getting rare (not like gold or silver) but still expensive.)
